Find Free Software at the Free Country

IT pros and tech folks are always looking for good utilities and software to make our lives and jobs easier. And if the software is free, that’s even better. One site I often use to find free utility programs is thefreecountry.com.

Thefreecountry.com provides a host of freeware programs for developers, Webmasters, IT pros, and power users. The site breaks down its offerings into different categories based on the intended audience.

Developers will find free compilers and other tools along with free source code and libraries that they can use to build their programs. Though I’m not a dedicated programmer, I’ve found several of the tools here quite helpful, including some text editors that can highlight specific syntax to help organize code, comments and other strings.

Webmasters will find a lot of helpful tools at thefreecountry.com. The site offers a variety of scripts for languages to build dynamic web pages, including those based on PHP and Perl. On my end, I’ve located links to some great Javascript code that I’ve been able to use in my pages. Those of you looking for a place to park your files can even find lists of free web hosts, e-mail servers and domain name registrars.

IT pros and power users in general can track down all kinds of free utilities and software. I’ve used the site to find partitioning tools, registry cleaners and file renaming tools, among many other programs. The list goes on and on to include security software, word processors, CD & DVD utilities and graphic editors.

Beyond offering free utilities, thefreecountry.com can point you to huge number of tutorials, tips and other useful content courtesy of sister sites thesitewizard.com and HowToHaven.com. Whenever I’m looking for a helping hand with free software or free advice, this is one site at the top of my list.
