Intrinsyc Provides Reference Design Based on Freescale's i.MX53 Chipset

Intrinsyc Software International, Inc., a provider of Android (News - Alert)-based software solutions for mobile and embedded devices, launched a comprehensive software reference design platform-based on Freescale Semiconductor’s (News - Alert) i.MX53 chipset, by the first quarter of the next year. A number of consumer applications including tablets, smartbooks, gaming devices and video enabled IP phones are supported by the platform.

The Vancouver, Canada-based company helps device makers, mobile operators and silicon vendors to offer enhanced mobile devices quickly and effectively; and offers its services through its branches located in China, Taiwan and the United States.

Freescale deploys the advanced multimedia and power-efficient features of the ARM (News - Alert) Cortex-A8 core to power its i.MX53 family of processors, and i.MX53, the first product in this family allows the end devices to support advanced smart mobile technology. Offering support for full HD 1080p video playback, the component is compatible with Adobe Flash 10.1 experience and allows the users to add up to 2GB external memory for supporting cloud computing applications. It is equipped with core processing speeds up to 1.2 GHz and provides high level of integration to the users.

Apart from 1080p video decode, the i.MX53 supports 720p video encoding and powers graphics performance. A built-in 400MHz capable external memory bus supports larger LCD screens, and allows the users to connect a range of vital peripherals such as DDR3, Serial ATA, LVDS, Ethernet and four USB ports as well.

Leveraging the i.MX53 platform by Freescale, Intrinsyc aims at introducing advanced software components such as RapidRIL telephony software and device management software. The company will also provide technical support and custom engineering services, while its reference design will enable the software application developers and device manufacturers to accelerate the development of smart consumer devices and applications through a comprehensive development platform.
