WLAN Provider Extricom Forms Strategic Alliance with Equanet

Extricom, which designs high-performance, next generation wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure solutions, announced a strategic alliance with Equanet, a specialist value added technology partner and the business-to-business arm of Dixons Retail.

This alliance is part of Extricom's (News - Alert) strategy to bring the unique benefits of its Channel Blanket architecture to an even wider range of verticals in the UK, according to company officials.

“Extricom's strategic alliance with Equanet will provide both companies with exciting opportunities in the mobility arena,” said Gideon Rottem, CEO of Extricom, in a statement. “Equanet's professional services and distribution business elements will enable Extricom to drive high performance WLAN implementations to all markets.”

The alliance will also offer a strong proposition to the U.K WLAN market's growing demand for high coverage, capacity and performance-oriented wireless LANs, they said.

The company has deployed its Channel Blanket architecture at several educational institutions and businesses across the U.K.

The architecture provides them with a WLAN that is easy to deploy and reliably provides high throughput even in challenging environments, company officials added.

Designed to tackle the challenges of today's mobile users, Extricom's wireless LAN architecture can be scaled from a single office to multi-building corporate campuses. It is simple to design, simple to deploy and simple to support, according to company officials.

Company officials claim that Extricom WLAN has established its reputation by providing reliable service in some of the harshest environments possible, where other WLANs have failed to perform to expectations.

Equanet is a technology logistics organization that has over thirty years of IT distribution experience. The company provides its customers with full life-cycle support across all areas of technology. It has expertise in areas like networking infrastructure design and optimization, server, desktop and storage virtualization, and software licensing and asset management.

“The alliance with Extricom plays to the strength of both companies, and creates a compelling offering in a rapidly evolving marketplace,” said Phil Birbeck, Equanet's managing director, in a statement. “Our capability in technology logistics and solutions development, and Extricom's leading edge technology, will bring real value to our clients.”

Back in Oct., Extricom announced the launch of the world's first enterprise-grade 802.11n access point with 3 spatial streams, the EXRP-33n, at IPExpo in London England.
