The Top Ten Ways to Kill a Snowman

A questionable holiday trend is appearing on YouTube (News - Alert) these days. Creative souls and entrepreneurial spirits alike are taking to the streets, smartphones in hand, with a singular objective: to kill a snowman.

Now, I am not sure why anyone would bother killing a snowman (perhaps they bear smug expressions?), but in case you were wondering how it works, please allow me to elaborate.

First the snowman’s creators build their snowman up, replete with layers, carrot noses and sweet button eyes. Then they exact vengeance upon their creation in as many original ways as possible, while YouTubing the whole fiasco.

But according to YouTube user Zanzibar19, whose video has gotten over 230,000 hits, snowman killing is not so much a science as it is an art form. There are actually top ten ways to kill a snowman:

1) Grenade to the head
2) Death by sniper/gun/shooting
3) Knife fight
4) Decapitation
5) Golf club beatings
6) Hit and run
7) Bad fashion advice (a threat to us all!)
8) Flamethrower
9) Taunt & Tackle
10) Hunting Accident

The snowman killing trend is sweeping the nation and it is not without consequence.

A bus driver recently lost his job after mowing down a rebellious snowman blocking the middle of the road – much to the humor of some nearby watchers, who recorded everything and later posted the video to YouTube, where it got over 25,000 hits.

But when the posters learned of the bus driver’s plight, they responded with empathy. After all, what was that snowman doing, lurking in the lane so late at night? A Facebook page rallying for the bus driver’s reinstatement was immediately created, and it currently has over 5,000 supporters.

Personally, as long as no one is actually put into harm’s way, this seems like a fun and interesting (albeit brutal) hobby.
