Mozilla Offering Live Streaming Red Panda Action

Our editors here at TMC (News - Alert) have stumbled upon one of the cutest possible websites available. And our fondest dreams have been realized: finally, we get to spend all day (or at least a portion of our day) watching baby Red Pandas frolic, cuddle and snooze.

And you can too.

Thanks to the Red Panda Cams over at Mozilla (News - Alert). In collaboration with the Knoxville Zoo, Mozilla is helping to host a site that features live Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) streaming video.

That’s right, you heard me: live streaming Red Panda goodness.

Mozilla, a non-for-profit organization and a creator of the popular Firefox web browser by the same name, has a mission in mind. According to an official statement, the company’s goal is to promote openness, innovation and opportunity on the web.

Now they’re taking that innovation to a conservation level by helping to feature six live streaming video cameras in the Knoxville baby Red Panda enclosure. Interested parties can tune into any of the following cameras:

Cub Cam “360 cute"
Enjoy an overhead view of the cubs’ nursery.

Cub Cam “Frolic”
Witness the cubs in action. Unless they’re snuggling.

Cub Cam “Snuggle”
Watch the cubs sleep. Unless they’re frolicking.

Parent Cam “Snooze”
Look on as Akkali (mother) and Chewbacca (father) do their thing.

Parent Cam “Gnaw”
Take a peek at Akkali and Chewbacca doing their thing from another angle.

Aunt Cam “Chillin”
Meet Kumari, the aunt (mom’s sister).

Fans of the Mozilla site even get to vote on names for the cubs – the results should be exciting.

And there is an interactive poll in place to gauge overall reactions to the cub cams, with response options ranging from: “Utter Joy” to “Nothing. I'm a robot.”

Donations can be made via the Red Panda New York website.

The cubs can also be followed on Twitter via @cubcaretaker.
