By Erin MondaWhether you’re shopping for the holiday season or simply stocking up on handy items around the home, we’re here to help you figure out what’s out there.
Germ Guardians
These sanitizer wands usually cost somewhere in the $30 range. And what do they do? Reportedly, they kill up to 99 percent of bacteria and viruses while also fighting odors and allergens. Proponents of the devices say that they are used in hospitals and are all natural. I’ve never used one, but the concept seems neat.
Touchless Soap Dispenser
I’ve always hated touching grimy soap dispensers and the same applies in my home as it does in a public arena. Luckily companies are now manufacturing personal soap dispensers for the home. Just fill them up with soap, wave your hand in front of them to trigger the sensor and presto!
iPod Sneaker Sport Kit
And for the health nuts out there, who like to run, iPod has an accessory for you… that isn’t too costly as long as you already own a pair of Nikes. This wireless sensor will run you about $35 and what it does is track your movements, almost like a modern day pedometer, and transmits them back to your iPod for processing. This can help users track how much distance they’ve traveled, pace, etc. The kit will even give you real-time feedback if you slowdown or approach a milestone. Currently, Nike is the only sneaker that comes with a place to put the sensor, but maybe that will eventually change.
Listmaker
What will they think of next?! If you’re a chronic list-maker, this SmartShopper is for you. This nifty personal electronic costs about $150 on Amazon and it is attuned to the users every whim. You simply say what items you want to put on your list (milk, sugar, eggs, LouBous, furs, whatever) and the SmartShopper recognizes your voice, computes it over into text and prints out the list on paper. Which will, in the end, help your mental health.
