Cloud computing is gaining speed and at the latest Cloud Expo event, TMCnet gathered great insight on what is going on in the industry. In a video from that event, TMCnet’s Erin Harrison was able to speak with Ali Jenab, CEO of Zetta, about what his company is doing in the cloud space.
Jenab noted that Zetta is basically trying to revolutionize the way bit sized companies buy storage. Zetta built a great infrastructure so someone can use the cloud to write all of their backup and data protection into the cloud.
Zetta has the second copy of your primary data, so if you ever lose anything at file level, you can go to Zetta and retrieve it. The process is designed to be very simple to do, and the company offers easy pricing where users are charged on space per month.
A recent Zetta launch was the Zetta Mirror, which is an agent that sits at a client site and extracts the data to Zetta. This eliminates any headaches or process management for the client, extending the value of the Zetta solution.
When asked if people are still concerned about security in the cloud, Jenab said, “Not as much. We have a great secure environment, so we built a very secure environment, everything is encrypted and it is encrypted while it is resting and infrastructure works great.”
At initial launch, Zetta was going after primary data. They moved to data protection offsite as they can avoid latency problems and eliminate headaches for the client. This process is easy and simple to do, which helps to drive adoption.
Zetta had some customer news to share: they have been selling for little over a year and announced last week they sold to over 100 customers, reaching a milestone. The main goal for the company is to keep the customer happy and they automatically expand their base.
As for the buzz on show floor: cloud still in early stages, yet tremendous amount of excitement and people asking how they can get started. Zetta wants to continue to make the platform easy to use and bring people into the base.
