More Organizations Adopt Cloud Computing Services

SunGard Availability Services revealed that there was a remarkable increase in adoption of cloud computing services in 2010. This awareness is expected to lead to the next phase of the cloud evolution, which will bring more maturation and convergence.

It has been proven beyond doubt that for most organizations, cloud computing can meet the demand for improved IT efficiency by providing a virtualized, secure infrastructure solution. This solution is scalable, reliable and can provide organizations with greater availability that cost effectively when compared to a dedicated IT environment.

In a press release, Rahul Bakshi, vice president of Product Management and Managed Services at SunGard Availability Services, said, “There has been a clear market trend of small and medium sized businesses looking to get out of the business of owning and maintaining their own IT infrastructure.”

“These companies want to tap into the investment service providers have made in IT tools, automation and elastic technology,” Bakshi added.

Bakshi explained further that in the year 2011 there will be a continued and faster maturity of cloud offerings with additional security enhancements, service improvements and convergence of various cloud solution technologies and standards to sere all customer needs. This is expected to accelerate the market adoption of IaaS, Bakshi noted.

Cloud adoption helps organizations realize faster ROI. While determining ROI, IT organizations have to think beyond reducing capital expenditures in spite of the huge gains that are possible.

The analysis for arriving at the ROI should be based on a comprehensive view, taking into consideration all aspects required to deliver the solution besides assessing factors like, will the solution be able to deliver services more effectively and efficiently; can they take better advantage of capacity on demand like seasonal spikes and also reduce time to market.

SunGard Availability Services provides disaster recovery services, managed IT services, information availability consulting services and business continuity management software to several customers in North America and Europe, said SunGard sources.

The company owns five million square feet of datacenter and operations space enabling it to assist IT organizations in all industry and government sectors to prepare for and recover from emergencies. It helps organizations minimize their computer downtime and optimize their uptime. It ensures clients that their people and customers have uninterrupted access to the information systems they need to conduct business operations.
