Freedom OSS, a leader in Integrated Cloud Service Management (ICSM) focusing on large enterprise environments, claimed that it has an agreement with the leading next-generation, studio Lionsgate Entertainment, to move its SAP (News - Alert) system into a cloud computing environment hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS). With this move, IT cost will be reduced, efficiency will be improved and IT infrastructure consumption will be minimized by varying the amount of energy and computing power to fit specific project needs.
Freedom OSS leads the industry as integrators for AWS cloud services and implementations. Cloud management, cloud compliance, cloud security and cloud governance have been accelerated by Freedom OSS to support enterprise organizations and federal agencies around the world. Industry leading cloud solution, “vNOC,” has been implemented during Lionsgate’s ERP migration process to operate and manage SAP.
Joel Davne, CEO of Freedom OSS, said in a statement, “The migration of a production SAP solution onto the AWS platform is a clear signal that cloud computing is being adopted by large enterprises. ERP represents one of the few remaining barriers that most industry observers felt would take longer to achieve.”
After receiving cost estimates for a data center in Santa Monica, Calif., Lionsgate realized the value of cloud computing. Leo Collins, executive vice president and chief information officer at Lionsgate, mentioned, “The computer room in Santa Monica was very expensive and moving it to less expensive space still was not cost-effective and the difficulties of managing two physical facilities, with many network and server devices recede into the background when you embrace cloud computing services.”
Lionsgate is currently moving its SAP production environment into the cloud that includes core ERP system, AP, AR, general ledgers and business intelligence applications as well as the entertainment focused, meta data and rights management systems. By moving these application into cloud, Lionsgate can save money and effort on storage management and can have more efficient data backup and disaster recovery, Environmental demands in expensive office space is reduced and it has to pay only for computing services used at any given time.
"I'm in the cloud, my SAP production and testing is literally anywhere now. I can instantly bring up 500 people on email without buying a single server. The cloud is just a more flexible, reliable IT environment that will grow with us and save money," concluded Collins.
Collins also concluded that he is in the cloud and his SAP production and testing is literally anywhere and he can instantly bring up 500 people on email without buying a single server and the cloud is more flexible, reliable IT environment that will grow and save money.
