XebiaLabs Unveils Deployit 1.3 Deployment Automation Solution after Beta

XebiaLabs, specializing in Java applications deployment announced the general availability of Deployit 1.3 deployment automation solution with a new IBM (News - Alert) WebSphere MQ plugin and Maven add-on.

Also, it was revealed that upgrades have significantly reduced errors for beta customers enabling IT departments to keep control of all deployment processes. KLM a customer of XebiaLabs realized savings of up to $ 1 million per year by deploying its solutions.

The general availability of Deployit 1.3 signifies the end of the beta testing program during which nearly 800 downloads was made in just four months. Also the presence of the new task-driven user interface and usability enhancements made to Deployit allows the inclusion of a new IBM WebSphere MQ plugin and Maven add-on. This follows XebiaLabs’ Unified Deployment Model, said company sources.

XebiaLabs’ Unified Deployment Model is an integral data model that defines all types of deployments. The model suits all deployment packages and all middleware environments, ensuring that deployments across different types of middleware involving various deployment artifacts can be carried out in a consistent, uniform way.

The IBM WebSphere MQ plugin encompasses the deployment of MQ related artifacts. This helps administrators to create, modify and delete WebSphere MQ Queues and Topics for their test and production environments.

The automation of such deployments allows this plugin to enable MQ administrators reduce the risks and costs associated with manual deployment practices. Also faster time-to-market can be achieved for new or modified applications. The entire automation from discovery to the actual deployment helps IT teams to create a more accurate, streamlined process that can be replicated easily.

In a press release, Coert Baart, CEO of XebiaLabs, said, “We’re very pleased with the response the Deployit 1.3 beta program generated and look forward to the success of this new upgrade with the additions of the IBM WebSphere MQ plugin and Maven add-on.”

“These improvements will help further reduce the risks and costs associated with manual deployment practices, while helping businesses achieve faster time-to-market for new or modified applications,” Baart added.

The Deployit add-on for Maven has been used by Karavel, a large French travel agency for reducing human mistakes in error-prone tasks. It also increases the flexibility and security of deployments and facilitates the integration of automation into companies’ test and build cycles.

This add-on enables developers to simply create deployment packages from their Maven environment and deploy them automatically to the development environment. The Maven integration enables Deployit to work directly with build automation software like Hudson, Bamboo and CruiseControl.
