At an event in New York City on Oct. 11, PC maker, Dell, unwrapped its entry into the smartphone market, the Dell (News - Alert) Venue Pro. Powered with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 operating system, Venue Pro will be available in the United States this holiday season with T-Mobile (News - Alert) services.
According to a Direct2Dell blog post on the same day, the Venue Pro is designed to be a multi-purpose always-connected device to help people be more efficient, always connected and entertained.
Some key features of the Dell smartphone include a 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive, multi-touch display, a full portrait QWERTY keyboard to provide a better viewing and messaging experience, and Gorilla glass for durability and scratch resistance. In addition, it offers a slender pocket-friendly form.
Since Dell’s Venue Pro was unveiled in NYC during the launch of Microsoft’s (News - Alert) Windows Phone 7 OS, the blogger also highlighted few attractive features tailored to make entertainment, social networking, playing games and listening to music a lot easier for mobile devices running Windows Phone (News - Alert) 7. Plus, as per the blog post, it delivers a deep portfolio of applications such as Xbox LIVE, Microsoft Office Mobile, Zune, Windows Live, Bing and more.In essence, it is designed to make a smartphone “Always delightful and wonderfully mine”, stated Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer.
Other phone makers running Windows Phone 7 on their respective smartphones include Samsung, LG Electronics (News - Alert), and HTC. Starting November 8, AT&T will offer three Windows Phone 7 based smartphones, which include HTC Surround, LG Focus and Samsung Quantum. Likewise, T-Mobile will offer HTC HD7 and Dell Venue Pro.
