N-able's ADSearch Optimizes Windows Active Directory Searching and Reporting

N-able Technologies, specializing in remote network and systems management software, announced the free availability of ADSearch, a new enterprise-class tool designed to enhance Windows Active Directory searching and reporting for IT administrators.

ADSearch will serve as a time-saving, convenient approach for increasing the IT productivity by streamlining use of Windows Active Directory and it is suitable for use in company IT departments and by managed service providers or MSPs.

ADSearch will be offered free of charge by N-able, and it can be downloaded and installed within seconds, immediately providing IT administrators and network managers with an easy-to-use, query-based interface. It also offers the capability to quickly build custom queries for issues specific to both Windows AD and Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange, said company sources.

In a press release, Frank Colletti, director of Sales for N-able Technologies, said, “Gathering AD information is an inefficient and time-consuming exercise that robs thousands of IT departments of productivity every day. Our free ADSearch tool alleviates this nagging pain point and delivers a substantial productivity boost with convenient AD searching and reporting.”

ADSearch is most suitable for administrators, help desk technicians, auditors and other users who require fingertip access to AD information. It facilitates AD tasks, allowing IT managers to perform a wide range of searching and reporting functions from a single centralized interface. The software can extract vital data from Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2008 AD environments in minimal time and produces results in a convenient, easy to understand format.

IT administrators can leverage this tool to perform customized searches and generate reports focused on contacts, domains, organizational units, groups, computers, printers, objects, object property or property wildcards. Also it allows the generation of specialized search reports on all AD objects by using the search feature. The results can be reported and printed directly or exported to various standard formats such as CSV, CSVDE, XLS or TXT.

The optimized features of N-able’s ADSearch are easy installation in either administrative mode or help desk/support mode. Centralized configuration allows users to query multiple domains from one console besides offering an expandable properties list for domains, OUs, groups, users’ computers, printers and published shares.

It helps export search results to Microsoft Excel; address standards compliance issues ; maintain naming standards and policies; validate objects to enforce corporate or security policies and also allows searching for AD properties of objects including computer, domain, group, OU, printer queue, volume of shared folders and user.

Company sources revealed that ADSearch complements N-able’s N-central 7.0 toolset, the company remote NSM product. N-central 7.0 has been deployed by thousands of IT service organizations for remotely monitoring and managing over 35,000 small and midsize businesses. Using the tool IT departments can automate their services, besides being able to remotely monitor and manage any device on their network from a central management console.
