Lantronix Unveils AccessMyDevice: Internet-based Service

Lantronix (News - Alert), a provider of secure, remote management and device networking solutions, launched AccessMyDevice, a new enterprise-grade, Internet-based service that will help business and technology professionals to easily view, manage, control and service any device from a Web browser.

The service will be offered in conjunction with the Lantronix SpiderDuo and it will allow customers to use AccessMyDevice free for the first six months of service. It is available only in the US for now and will be available for international customers from December 2010, said company sources in a press release

The AccessMyDevice partner program was also launched by the company which is expected to help businesses offer managed services to their customers under their own brand name.

Jerry Chase, CEO at Lantronix, commented, “We are thrilled to launch AccessMyDevice, a leading edge managed service solution. This service provides new recurring revenue streams for Lantronix and offers our customers and partners competitive advantages in terms of productivity and cost savings. AccessMyDevice will also serve as a robust communications platform for delivering software as a service or SaaS (News - Alert) solutions to the M2M market.”

AccessMyDevice offers benefits similar to that of a browser interface besides also offering added security and functionality that is needed by enterprise customers to remotely access devices, servers, equipment and data behind firewalls.

The major features offered by AccessMyDevice are 24-hour, seven days a week secure, browser-based access to virtually any machine, device, server, PC, laptop and microprocessor among others. It also includes the initial SpiderDuo offering that is compatible with Linux, Windows and Mac machines, and any device with a VGA video port and either USB or PS/2 keyboard/mouse connector.

It enables BIOS-level access which does not have limitations like a software-based solution residing at the operating system layer. Users can change BIOS settings and even conduct an entire system restore. Using the virtual media support, users can perform remote upgrades, transfer files and redirect local drives remotely.

Besides, the Wake-on LAN remotely wakes up a computer or device that is turned off, or vice versa, saving on energy costs and system usage, added company officials.

The SpiderDuo is a small compact IPv6-certified device that provides flexible, secure, real-time access to remote computers, servers and other equipment from virtually anywhere via the Internet. According to Lantronix sources its network connection allows remote users to control a distant computer easily.
