Insyde Software, a leading provider of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)-based firmware, announced that the company will soon launch InsydeH2O UEFI firmware solution for the Intel (News - Alert) Atom processor E6xx series.

InsydeH20 targets embedded devices and markets, including industrial automation, digital signage, retail and gamin. Besides Intel Atom processor E6xx series, the new UEFI will also support Intel Platform Controller Hub EG20T, and a variety of I/O Hubs from third parties. It will also support I/O blocks such as SATA, USB Host and Device, SD/SDIO/MMC, and Gigabit Ethernet MAC.

The option of I/O Hubs from third parties is likely to meet the requirements of many embedded applications, such as in-vehicle infotainment systems, media phones and premise service gateways. Some of these third parties are Oki Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics (News - Alert) and Realtek. InsydeH2O UEFI firmware solution can also be customized to support critical embedded design requirements, including fast boot, console redirection, ACPI, TPM security, and others.

"Insyde Software’s support of the Intel Atom E6xx series ensures developers have the latest BIOS technology available for low-power embedded systems,” said Stephen Gentile, senior vice president at Insyde Software, in a statement. “Embedded systems developers can get products to market faster with InsydeH2O’s graphical based H2OVIP integrated development tool and OEMs get the fastest boot times available with Insyde’s patented BlinkBoot technology.”

Insyde Software is an affiliate member of the Intel Embedded Alliance and is a global provider of BIOS, UEFI-based firmware and engineering services for companies in the desktop, mobile, server and embedded computing industries. The company is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan and serves a number of leading embedded systems designers and manufacturers.
