Zentyal 2.0 Brings Enhancements in Usability, Performance and Stability

Zentyal, the developer of a Linux small business server of the same name, has announced the launch of Zentyal 2.0.

Based on Ubuntu (News - Alert) 10.4 LTS distribution, the new release comes with improvements in the usability, performance and stability of the software. It also integrates new features such as the bridge mode, FTP server and Zarafa groupware application. Users are also ensured of higher levels of security, functionality and hardware compatibility.

The new version offers a Linux server that can be fully configured through a simple graphical interface, software management improvements have taken place and automatic configuration wizards have been introduced. The configuration behind Zentyal has been changed from gconf to redis and this has improved notably the server speed. All this leads to a much richer user experience.

In addition, Zentyal 2.0 is equipped with new features such as bridge mode that simplifies the deployment of existing networks or FTP module demanded by many Zentyal community members. Finally, this version also features a new Zarafa module that provides a groupware solution for sharing calendars, contacts and tasks.

Previously known as the eBox Platform, Zentyal is a Network Gateway (News - Alert), Unified Threat Manager, Office Server, Infrastructure Manage and Unified Communications Server bundled into one. It offers easy and efficient computer network administration for small and medium-size businesses. These functionalities are tightly integrated, automating most tasks, avoiding mistakes and saving time for system administrators.

Zentyal is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and runs on top of Ubuntu.
