By Deepika MalaThe Florida Department of Environment Protection has awarded Integrated Computer Solutions with a contract for application support and maintenance outsourcing. Awarded through the Office of Technology Information Services, the contract is valued at just over $700,000 for fiscal year 2010-2011, and is a new type of maintenance outsourcing for DEP.
ICS, through this new contract, has the initial responsibility of maintaining and supporting standard and proprietary applications deployed throughout seven business units within DEP.
Realizing the value and cost savings associated with ICS’s service arrangement, OTIS expects the business units to increase the number of applications over time. The contract is expected to save the agency an estimated 30 percent compared to FY 2009 expenditures for the same services, due to improved pricing and increased productivity.
No stranger to the unique technical security and outsourcing needs of State and Federal agencies, ICS provides similar services for the States of Mississippi and Alabama, as well as the United States Department of Defense.
“ICS has consistently offered innovative, best-in-class solutions to help many agencies become more efficient and save taxpayers money,” said Chip Schuneman, Chief Operating Officer for ICS. “This is especially important in today’s economic environment, wherein agencies are faced with significant budget challenges, an ever-increasing demand for talented resources and high quality service.”
John Willmott, DEP’s CIO said, “We look forward to working with ICS, as they have a long-standing history of successful performance-based contracts for the State of Florida. ICS' focus on superior service, quality, and cost savings will be visible across the state, as they afford DEP the opportunity to save significant taxpayer dollars."
