Alion Science and Technology Awarded $3.6M Contract

Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned engineering, R&D, IT and operational solutions company, has been awarded $3.6M contract to help manage, develop and integrate modeling and simulation capabilities across the Army.

The contract enables Army Modeling and Simulation Office (AMSO) to leverage Alion's expertise in support of its oversight role for managing modeling and simulation (M&S) processes throughout the Army.

Officials with Alion said that as part of this ongoing effort, the company will provide subject matter expertise and services to support AMSO and the Modeling and Simulation Proponent Office's mission to train and supply qualified M&S professionals to the Army, recruit and manage the M&S community to best meet the Army's warfighting needs and to create a fully trained Army M&S community.

Alion personnel will also analyze technical requirements and conduct staff-level research.

"With the Army's increasing focus on using M&S for decision support, mission planning, training and more, it's essential that they have the tools and capability to effectively introduce and manage relevant processes," said Timer Keenan, senior vice president and manager of the strategic operations group, Alion.

Keenan said that Alion's continuing support of M&S integration will help move AMSO closer to its goals of extending M&S resources throughout the Army.

The Army M&S Office guides, coordinates, integrates and synchronizes strategic M&S efforts across the Army in order to create unity of effort and purpose.

In addition, the Office also develops and implements a coherent and unified Army M&S strategy to organize and equip the Army with M&S capabilities in support of Operating and Generating Force functions and institutional processes.
