Fujitsu Showcases Convertible Tablets at CES 2011

At the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Fujitsu demonstrated its flagship convertible tablet line LIFEBOOK T580 and T901.

In addition, the computer manufacturer also displayed a family of LIFEBOOK notebooks. While Fujitsu’s (News - Alert) next generation convertible tablet PCs deliver wide screens with touch and pen support for navigation, the notebooks offer dual-function large screens for outstanding 2D and 3D viewing.

Powered by second generation Intel core processors (i5and i7) and NVIDIA (News - Alert) Optimus technology, the LIFEBOOK T901 offers 13.3-inch display in light weight design and unique modular bay that supports hot swapping of a second battery, a second hard drive or weight saver. Pricing starts at $1899.

Similarly, LIFEBOOK T580 tablet combines touch-screen mobility and a keyboard into a small but full-featured convertible tablet that delivers mobility and long battery life. Over and above multi-touch capability, the unit also features pen input for frequent travelers, thus, allowing mobile users to use both finger and pen navigation.

The WXGA multi-touch screen is 10.1-inch LED backlight LCD display. The tablet is powered by Intel (News - Alert) i5 processor and weighs only 3 pounds.  Its starting price is $1149.

According to a report on Yahoo! News, the 10.1-inch tablet is a Windows 7 based slate design offering a display resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels. Target (News - Alert) vertical markets for the Fujitsu tablet include finance and healthcare. Other highlights include self-encrypted solid-state drive (SSD), option for wireless broadband, standard connectivity like WiFi (News - Alert) and Bluetooth, biometric security, and front- and rear-facing cameras and microphones.

On the notebook side, the new Fujitsu notebooks deliver the power and performance of a desktop with the convenience of a notebook. For instance, ultra-portable LIFEBOOK P771 notebook delivers all the performance users demand, but with less weight and less bulk, making it one of the smallest full-powered notebooks available, said Fujitsu. Its starting price is $1529.

Both the new tablets and notebooks are now available through Fujitsu website and select retailers, said the maker.

In other company news, Fujitsu was
recognized with the 2010 Vendor Award of Excellence in the "Content Management" category by Ingram Micro last December.
