Hitachi ID Systems Automates Enterprise Password Management Process at DTCC

Hitachi ID Systems (News - Alert), which develops identity and access management (IAM) solutions, now has a case study available through its website that explains how Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) automated its enterprise password management processes, through use of Hitachi ID Identity Management software.

DTCC, through its subsidiaries, provides clearing, settlement and information services for equities, corporate and municipal bonds, government and mortgage-backed securities, money market instruments and over-the-counter derivatives.

The organization was seeking a solution to streamline customer service because of the increase in enterprise password management calls to its IT help desk. After evaluating a number of vendors and products, the company settled on Hitachi ID Password Manager (HIPM).

DTCC required the enterprise password management solution to drive new efficiencies on all levels so it can drive down cost for their users while at the same time enhancing the level of security required, for playing a critical role in the financial marketplace.

Hitachi’s enterprise password management solution helps organizations manage the user lifecycle, including access provisioning, compliance, passwords and other authentication factors more effectively.

Important features of Hitachi Password Manager module include password synchronization, self-service reset, token management, security question enrolment, biometric enrolment and PKI certificate management.

Hitachi released version 7.1.0 of Password Manager in March of this year. Password Manager features a capability called Self Service Anywhere that allows access to password reset and smart-card PIN reset from home, a hotel room and even a public WiFi (News - Alert) hot spot or aircard.

After deploying HIPM enterprise password management solution, DTCC has seen a reduction of over 25 percent in calls to their internal and external IT help desks. This has enabled DTCC to reassign four out of a total of 12 support staff to other more productive customer service functions, company officials said.
