Mashery (News - Alert) has launched Mashery API Control Center, the industry's first platform for flexibly routing and managing global API traffic from a single, powerful dashboard.

Mashery provides API (Application Programming Interface) management technology and services. The company claims its newly released offering is the world's most powerful tool for building a successful and robust digital distribution platform. 

Commenting on the rationale for the move, the company says that many organizations today are turning to APIs to expose everything from media content and product catalogs to commercial transactions and medical records.

Research firm Gartner (News - Alert) also predicts increase in usage saying that by 2014, 75 percent of the Fortune 1000 will offer public Web APIs.

Typically, IT managers have to decide between running APIs in the cloud or behind their own firewalls. This problem is addressed by Mashery API Control Center, which allows companies to mix and match.

Companies can now run some APIs in the cloud and others on premises, depending on the security, speed, and control requirements.

Mashery is offering companies to choose between Mashery Local and Mashery Cloud. The first option is a new version of Mashery's API traffic manager that operates completely inside corporate data centers, under full control of IT managers.

Second option- Mashery Cloud- has four levels of failover and redundancy, operated and managed by Mashery.
