Telesphere Talks Video Conferencing Solution with TMCnet
Cloud communications leader Telesphere (News - Alert) has been busy spreading the word this summer about its newest cloud-based video conferencing offering, VideoConnect, and the company kept on spreading the word when it sat down with TMC’s (News - Alert) CEO Rich Tehrani in San Jose at a recent event.
“Video conferencing has been around for awhile but it’s generally only been adopted by larger enterprises with significant capital investment and technical investment and people that can operate the system,” Sanjay Srinivasan, CTO of Telesphere, told Tehrani. “Our goal with our hosted video conferencing services, given that we have been focusing on the higher end of the SMB sector, is to make these services available to the SMB sector as well and use it in a manner that is easy to use wherever you are with a multitude of devices.”
“The key thing behind the service is because it’s hosted; it lets us put in place network infrastructure that allows you to punch through firewall issues,” he added.
VideoConnect, a hosted video service, allows all types of businesses to implement video conferencing using Web cam-equipped PCs, room-based video systems, videophones, smartphones, tablets and softphones. VideoConnect from Telesphere is an extension of the company’s cloud-based business communication solutions, which include hosted voice, hosted call center and hosted call recording for businesses, company officials said.
The cloud-based service boasts one-on-one video calling and call bridging. It also enables up to 12 simultaneous legs in a single video conference. This vendor-agnostic approach helps participants using different types of room-based videoconferencing systems, videophones and softclients to see, talk with, and hear one another quickly.
“The goal is to make this service as easy to use as it is to do audio conferencing today,” Srinivasan said. “It’s a reservation-less video conferencing bridge with a virtual attendant to guide you through the process of showing you the bridge.”
The display resembles that of Hollywood Squares as there are multiple video feeds at once with the largest pane being that of the speaker.
The cloud communications technology boasts ease of use, quality of service treatments and support for a multitude of bandwidth choices
When asked what makes Telesphere stand apart from other cloud communications leaders, Srinivasan said it’s the fact that company does more than just introduce leading-edge technology; it also does whatever it can to make the end user experience as positive as possible.
So what’s next for Telesphere?
“We have a continued focused on the business segment but a more vertical focus behind added applications and services,” Srinivasan said.
