BitNami, a leading provider of web applications which can be deployed natively, virtually and in the cloud, has recently announced that the company has formed partnership agreement with Jaspersoft. The partnership will enable small to medium sized businesses (SMBs) to deploy JasperReports Server Community Edition open source report server on the Amazon EC2 Cloud with just a click of a button using BitNami Cloud Hosting.

In a release, Daniel Lopez, chief technical officer of BitNami said that, “We have been working closely with Jaspersoft for several years to make their commercial offering easy for customers to deploy. We are excited to extend our partnership and provide our BitNami Cloud Hosting users with access to an excellent open source BI solution for the cloud. JasperReports Server is perfectly tailored to the cloud with an easily customizable GUI and agnostic data source support. The commercial edition also includes multi-tenant capabilities.”

According to the terms of the agreement, BitNami and Jaspersoft will together provide JasperReports Server as a part of the part of the BitNami Cloud Hosting library. The JasperReports Server is a leading open source business intelligence tool which enables businesses to benefit from the power and flexibility of the cloud by deploying an enterprise-grade business intelligence solution without adding extensive IT resources to the equation.

Andrew Lampitt, senior director of technology alliances at Jaspersoft added that, “We are pleased that BitNami is offering Jaspersoft Community Editions in the cloud for instant access to powerful open source business intelligence."

The JasperReports Server, when powered by BitNami Cloud Hosting application, can be deployed in a matter of minutes as well as scaled up or down to meet changing requirements, enabling the customers to customize the setup and save the images as templates, be ready to be cloned and restored as and when necessary, thereby providing further time savings. BitNami Cloud Hosting provides a platform which provides simple and easy deployment and management process of web applications on the cloud.

In other news, BitNami released updated BitNami Stacks for developing PHP applications for the cloud. The updated BitNami Stacks now include the Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) PHP Software Development Kit ("AWS PHP SDK"), which makes it easier for developers to build PHP applications that run on top of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
