Coyote Point Systems (News - Alert), a provider of application acceleration and load-balancing solutions for small- to medium-size busineses, announced the release of Equalizer OnDemand which is a full-featured, virtual Application Delivery Controller or ADC (News - Alert).
Company sources explained that Equalizer OnDemand can be installed on a virtual infrastructure running VMware and it also provides server load balancing and content routing among multiple physical and virtual servers. Managed hosting providers can deploy Equalizer OnDemand to support multiple customers, or on a per customer, per application basis.
Service providers will benefit from flexible deployment options and additional capabilities to support new revenue generating opportunities for application delivery services. Using the Coyote Point’s Virtual ADC, service providers can “pay as they grow” by simply adding Equalizer OnDemand licenses.
This enables them to realize optimized performance, cost effectively. Equalizer OnDemand can be easily installed and provisioned in minutes which allow managed service providers to rapidly scale to meet their customer demands.
Bill Kish, CTO and Alpha Coyote at Coyote Point said, “At Coyote Point we’ve always prided ourselves on delivering the best products to meet our customers' specific business needs.”
“Cloud Providers and Hosting companies need flexible, virtualized solutions to support very real application delivery challenges. Equalizer OnDemand was designed specifically to meet those needs,” Kish added.
The Equalizer OnDemand helps network managers to initiate multiple virtual Equalizer ADCs within their virtual infrastructure or Cloud to optimize and scale virtual server resources according to real-time traffic demands. It similarly scales to an Equalizer appliance that has equal throughput capacity, said company sources.
Cloud computing techniques are adopted by data centers as they offer immense savings. Equalizer OnDemand adds a new level of control here by automating the provisioning and de-provisioning of virtual server resources. With Equalizer smart control, VMware servers can be brought up and taken down automatically and dynamically depending on real-time traffic demand and predicted traffic threshold levels.
Company sources added that the need to over-provision servers to handle load spikes is now eliminated. The solution reduces capital expenses as there will be fewer servers besides reducing operational expenses connected with power, cooling, maintenance and management.
Coyote Point Soft ADC features intelligent layer 4-7 load balancing and application-based routing and is based on EQ/OS Coyote Point’s advanced traffic management operating system. It supports unlimited clusters of physical and virtual servers besides providing content-based routing for optimized server resource utilization and secure processing of HTTPS and SSL transactions.
It also features Coyote Point’s VLB technology for VMware optimization and management and it ensures high-availability of servers and applications. It is also compatible with all VMware implementations.
