Antenova Announces DATANOVA Antenna for Ultra-Thin Notebooks and Netbooks

Antenova, a provider of integrated antenna and radio frequency solutions for wireless communications and consumer electronics devices, announced its new DATANOVA 4G high performance nine-band antenna with Long Term Evolution or LTE (News - Alert) and Global Positioning System or GPS for the new generation of lightweight notebooks and netbooks.

DATANOVA 4G nine-band antenna covers LTE bands 4, 7, 13 and 17. The solution provides 3G cellular and Wireless Wide Area Network or WWAN, convenient next-generation Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access or WiMAX and Wireless Fidelity or Wi-Fi connectivity plus embedded GPS for location aware applications.

Company officials say Antenova's (News - Alert) integrated antennas and RF solutions are ideally suited for an extensive range of applications, including GSM and CDMA, 3G, LTE, GPS, 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, WiMAX (News - Alert), WiBro, ZigBee, Mobile TV and M2M.

"DATANOVA 4G is the latest addition to our successful range of multi-band mobile broadband antennas and part of Antenova's expanding range of LTE and WiMAX antenna solutions for 4G mobile devices," Greg McCray, CEO of Antenova, said.

"DATANOVA 4G is the ideal solution for notebook and netbook vendors wanting to offer the widest range of cellular, mobile broadband and wireless connectivity features in small, lightweight portable devices," McCray added.

With the inclusion of GPS in a single antenna structure, users can experience and enjoy the growing range of location based services and applications, McCray, added.

DATANOVA mobile brand antennas covers as many or all of the bands. It gives a wider choice of wireless broadband connectivity options while offering higher performance.

The new DATANOVA antennas come in small volume, low-profile form factors - down to 0.8mm in width for ultra thin and lightweight notebooks and netbooks. With such a form factor, DATANOVA can be used in even the thinnest notebooks including the Dell (News - Alert) Adamo XPS - the world's thinnest notebook at only 9.99mm in height/thickness, the company said.

With DATANOVA manufacturers can avoid external antennas. With DATANOVA antennas, the company provides manufacturers with embedded wireless connectivity.

Company officials said that there are 64 operators already committed to LTE network deployments in 31 countries. Also, many of the notebook vendors are gearing up for LTE rollouts.

In early April, the company announced its M10264 GPS RADIONOVA RF Antenna Module has been selected by Blackroc Technology for their C32M/G 2 Megapixel Camera for the PsionTeklogix Workabout Pro range of rugged handheld computers.

Antenova's M10264 GPS RF Antenna Module provides embedded GPS capability to the C32M/G camera for the capture of geo-tagged images, the company said.
