American Industrial Systems, Inc. or 'AIS', a provider of LCD and embedded computing products for the industrial market, will launch a mobile Remote Terminal Unit or 'RTU' Tablet PC that has been designed for monitoring, controlling, and a central communication system for industrial, utility, and transportation applications.
The company offers specialty industrial panel pc, industrial display, digital signage, and rugged tablet PC solutions for customers in the industrial automation, military and aerospace, medical, transportation and power & energy markets.
The new offering by the company, a rugged tablet PC is powered by the Intel (News - Alert) Atom N270 1.6GHz processor with Intel 945 GSE Chipset + ICH7, and delivers low power, high performance, and efficient operation. It features a clean and practical design, and consists of aluminum-magnesium alloy construction. The new computer is equipped with individually sealed ports for complete IP54 compliance waterproof and dustproof protection, and holds good at the Military 810F standards for showing resistance against shock, vibration and drop.
An integrated lithium ion battery powers the rugged mobile terminal tablet with touch screen, which can be used on the go and in outdoor environments with ease. AIS has incorporated state-of-the-art Transflective technology in the device to provide optimum visibility to the users even in direct sunlight conditions where standard tablets would fail, while its programmable buttons and HMI touchscreen technology enable quick and easy navigation for the users.
In order to help the users in staying connected while on the go, integrated 802.11b/g WIFI and Bluetooth modules have been provided within the computer, which allow easy connection to wireless networks and Bluetooth devices without the need for external hardware.
The unit also features an integrated Personal Computer Memory Card International Association or 'PCMCIA' slot to allow the addition of wireless modems and third-party devices such as GPS, whenever a wireless internet connection is required in a non WiFi (News - Alert) enabled area. The 10.4" screen computer offers a comprehensive solution for mobile automation and mobile communication to industrial, utility, and commercial environments where reliability, quality, flexibility, and service are vital factors.
In order to support third-party software, the PC-based RTU supports standard protocols such as Modbus, IEC (News - Alert) 60870-5-101/103/104, DNP3, ICCP and so on. Additionally, it supports IEC 61311 Programming Standard.
In March 2010, American Industrial Systems Inc. introduced a PC-based control system line for industrial automation and PLC control supporting the IEC 61131 Programming Standard. The Industrial Panel PCs featured the Intel Atom Z series processors providing fanless, reliable performance with minimal power consumption.
