REDCOM Secures Carrier Class 4/5 IP Softswitch Line with Mocana's Technology

Even though telecom and IP security breaches are growing more sophisticated, companies in all branches of telecom have proven that they can keep up, with super-powerful technology to mitigate threats.

On the softswitch side, REDCOM Laboratories has announced a new technology partnership with Mocana to secure REDCOM’s (News - Alert) TRANSip IP technology suite.

A designer and manufacturer of digital and IP-infused telecom systems, REDCOM will integrate Mocana’s (News - Alert) “NanoSSL Advanced” device integrity software to implement secure SIP over TLS and to encrypt remote administration of REDCOM HDX and SLICE2100 softswitches.

The combined Mocana-and-REDCOM technology platform will boost protection against different types of security breaches, such as eavesdropping, data theft and VoIP man-in-the-middle attacks. It does this by encrypting content and authenticating endpoints at carrier-class traffic volumes and speeds, said REDCOM representatives.

“We selected Mocana because their comprehensive device security framework fit most easily with our own product architecture, providing all the security capabilities that we were looking for now and based on future growth,” Sam Delibert, chief operating officer, REDCOM Laboratories, Inc., told TMCnet. “As next-generation technologies like VoIP are more widely adopted, the security needs of REDCOM’s customers in a wide range of industries have become paramount. “

Klaus Gueldenpfennig, president of REDCOM, said that with the addition of the Mocana’s government-certified cryptography software, customers will have a platform that combines security with other important features.

“Our customers demand robust security from our IP-based switch platforms,” said Gueldenpfennig. “They also expect very high throughput and high availability. Mocana’s government-certified cryptography software stood out head and shoulders above the rest.”

TRANSip is a Mocana-secured, fully integrated VoIP and TDM product available for the REDCOM HDX and SLICE 2100 Carrier Class 4/5 softswitch platforms that incorporates the benefits of TDM and IP technologies. TRANSip provides a SIP Call Controller, Media Gateway (News - Alert), Media Gateway Controller and a full range of related IP telephony capabilities and features. TRANSip also supports traditional TDM transport and signaling interfaces and features.

“REDCOM’s TRANSip incorporates a full VoIP and TDM feature set in a single next generation network platform, coupling REDCOM’s world-renowned reliability with best-in-class Mocana device security,” said Adrian Turner (News - Alert), Mocana’s president and CEO. “TRANSip offers their customers all the ROI benefits of secure VoIP while still leveraging customers’ substantial investments in existing network elements.”
