Tektronix, Inc., provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, has
reportedly unveiled new WFM8200 and WFM8300 advanced waveform monitors, joining company’s waveform monitor line-up.
Company has brought out these new additions for multi-format environments, providing flexible options and field-installable upgrade kits to monitor diverse video types including 3 Gb/s SDI, Dual Link, HD/SD SDI and Composite Analog Video.
The WFM8300 with Option PHY facilitates multi-rate HD/SD-SDI and 3Gb/s SDI color bar and pathological signal generation capabilities that provide engineers with a simple signal source for quick signal path verification during system and equipment setup and troubleshooting.
The new models also feature notable advances in color grading with new patented Luma Qualified Vector and Spearhead Gamut displays.
Both WFM8300 and WFM8200 come standard with Dual Link SDI, compliant monitoring, Automatic Format Detection and selectable display of Alpha Channel, as well as 2K Dual Link monitoring with XYZ Color Space.
"In order to stay ahead of competitive challenges, broadcasters and network operators need the ability to efficiently and reliably deliver superior signal and picture quality to viewers," said Eben Jenkins, director, Video Product Line, Tektronix (

Jenkins said that with the introduction of WFM8200 and WFM8300 they are delivering the advanced, high-performance tools their customers need to meet these ever-increasing quality demands, while also breaking new ground with automated 3Gb/s SDI testing.
According to the company, both the models are designed to help engineering staffs to reduce time and effort in equipment qualification and setup and more effectively detect system degradations before they become quality problems which can cause advertising revenue penalties or subscriber loss.
Both support any combination of video and audio format options, so these instruments excel in multi-format environments and evolve with users needs to protect their investment, says the company.
The company plans to bring out these additions in September with price starting at $14,900 U.S. MSRP for the WFM8200 and $19,900 U.S. MSRP for the WFM8300.
