AMD Debuts ATI FirePro V7750 Graphics Accelerator

Graphics professionals working in engineering, digital content creation and scientific fields can now utilize AMD’s (News - Alert) new ATI FirePro V7750 graphics accelerator to handle large models and shader-intensive applications to deliver stunning visual output.

Advanced Micro Devices (News - Alert) (AMD) is a technology company that claims to have dedicated itself to collaborating with customers and partners to ignite the next generation of computing and graphics solutions at work, home and play.

This new quad-display card sports 1GB of GDDR3 frame-buffer memory, a 30-bit display pipeline and twin DisplayPort connectors plus has one dual-link DVI socket. Each DVI output supports 18-, 24-, and 30-bit digital displays at resolutions up to 2560x1600 and has a dual-link HDCP encoder for playback of copy-protected content. Compared to the older FireGL V7700, however, the new card loses the HD component video output.

This workstation powerhouse also features High Dynamic Range (HDR (News - Alert)) rendering with 8-bit, 10-bit and 16-bit-per-RGB color component support. Also graphics professionals get 320 stream processing units, full Shader Model 4.1 support for vertex and pixel shaders and a unified video decoder for H.264, AVC, VC-1 and MPEG-2 video formats.

“With the introduction of the ATI FirePro V7750 graphics accelerator, AMD’s ATI Professional Graphics group is well positioned to increase its presence in the high-end segment of the market, complementing our solid showing in the entry-level and mid-range,” said Janet Matsuda, senior director, AMD Professional Graphics.

The display card is available with HP workstations or as a standalone for other existing and future systems. HP has stated that it will work closely with AMD to design products that provide superior performance and user experience for professionals at the top of their fields.

“SolidWorks users demand products with superior performance, such as the ATI FirePro V7750, to enable real-time rendering but without the traditional hang-ups,” said Nick Iwaskow, Manager of Alliances, Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. “The top-to-bottom feature set and performance of the new ATI FirePro product family can give our SolidWorks users the efficiency to boost productivity and creativity.”
