Qwest Intros Online Digital Content Backup Service

Qwest (News - Alert) Communications has introduced the Qwest Personal Digital Vault which is an online backup service for Qwest High-Speed Internet users. It provides encrypted, offsite protection and enables customers to secure their valuable digital content from computer crashes and external hard-drive damage.

Both existing Qwest High-Speed Internet customers as well as new ones can visit the company's Web site and take advantage of the free 2GB online vault space provided for back up of digital content. The Qwest Personal Digital Vault account can be used for anywhere-access to all backed-up digital content.

“Special photos, videos and correspondence lost to a hard-drive crash, computer theft or damage means a big emotional loss,” said Neil E. Cox (News - Alert), Qwest executive vice president of Product and IT.

“Home computers and hard-drives will eventually fail, and the best use of Qwest Personal Digital Vault is to back up these important digital keepsakes for when that time comes.”

Qwest Personal Digital Vault features an online backup facility for customers whose data will be backed-up by secure data-encryption. It offers automated and customizable backup scheduling which safeguards new files and their versions. A file restore and complete restore feature also allows customers to access
their backed-up content even when external hard-drives , thumb-drives or CDs are damaged, lost or stolen.

Customers who require more than 2GB of vault space for their digital content can do so by signing up for 50GB of vault space.

The Qwest Fiber-Optic Fast Internet delivers connection speeds up to 20 Mbps in some areas. It has introduced service enhancements to protect digital content of customers by offering products like Windows Live OneCare and secure Qwest Home Networking besides Qwest Personal Digital Vault.

The company’s national fiber-optic network caters to the communication and entertainment needs of all customers.
