Backblaze Intros Online Backup Solution for Mac Computers

Online backup solutions are becoming the best alternative to conventional storage solutions for common users as well as enterprises. Apart from their popular use to store personal digital contents like photos, movies and videos, online storage solutions are widely used for launching Web applications.

While Windows backup solutions have gained large-scale acceptance, Mac-based storage solutions have not gained significant market traction. A study conducted by Apple (News - Alert) revealed that only four percent of Mac users regularly maintain backups of their computer data.

To help Mac users store and protect data online, Backblaze, a provider of computer backup solutions, announced an online backup solution that automatically backs up all data on Apple Mac computers in a limited private beta for just $5 per month.

Backblaze’s service provides an effortless online backup solution that enables Mac users to never worry about losing their pictures, videos, music, documents and other computer files, ever again, the company said in a media statement.

The online backup solution is easy to install. Users simply download the application after entering their email address and password, after installing the software, the computer starts to backup all data automatically.

Backblaze’s attractive offer includes a free 15-day trial with unlimited storage, the continued unlimited storage for just $5 per month, and automatic backup of all data, including data on external USB and Firewire drives.

The service ensures security in the form of military-grade encryption of all files and an optional private encryption key. It provides continuous backup with scheduled, idle-time, and manual backup options.

The data can be restored to any computer via the Web or on DVD or USB hard drive. The backup or restore process does not, however, affect the performance of the computer. Backblaze provides the service in 11 languages.

Backblaze said half of the founding team of Backblaze backup solution heralds from Apple. The service has been designed natively for the Mac platform, integrated into the Mac System Preferences, and developed for the Mac community. Backblaze online backup beta for Mac supports Intel (News - Alert)-based Mac computers running Mac OS X 10.4 Leopard and newer.

Backblaze was selected as a winner of the AlwaysOn Global Top 250 private companies for game-changing technology and market value.
