Telenor Pakistan Deploys NetAct Traffica GPRS Module from Nokia Siemens Networks

Nokia Siemens Networks, a global communication provider, has announced that its NetAct Traffica real-time customer traffic monitoring and analysis software has been selected by Telenor Pakistan, an international provider of telecommunications, data and media communication services.

Telenor (News - Alert) Pakistan has acquired the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) module of NetAct Traffica to enhance the data service experience for its over 18 million subscribers. Telenor Pakistan is the 100th customer for NetAct Traffica, says Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Networks.

It owns one of the largest Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE)/GPRS enabled network in the country. The company selected the software tool considering its benefits including real-time viewing of GPRS network usage, the ability to differentiate services and gain full revenue potential, and faster response times to customer complaints.

Launched in 2001, NetAct Traffica allows operators to view the performance of GPRS packet-switched core networks in delivering service to end-users.

Along with its real-time monitoring, fast problem-correction and effective troubleshooting capabilities, Nokia (News - Alert) NetAct Traffica for GPRS also interworks effectively with the operator's operations support systems, a statement from the company said.

NetAct Traffica provides a means to investigate detailed reports of all call attempts made in the network by using Traffica off-line tools. Another tool, the Traffic News database query tool, helps operators investigate in detail why, within a selected time period, call attempts and other subscriber events have failed in a particular area. This allows operators to respond more quickly to customer complaints

It also provides diagnostic services like information on service usage by data subscribers, time and area of service usage, problem identification and troubleshooting. Telenor Pakistan (News - Alert) can utilize this information to determine areas of improvement to ensure flawless services to the customers.

“We at Telenor Pakistan are always focused on providing unblemished services to our customers,” said Peter Dindial, chief technical officer, Telenor Pakistan.

“Our intention behind deploying Nokia Siemens Networks’ real time traffic monitoring and analysis software is to ensure identification and removal of even the smallest constrictions,” Dindial added.

“NetAct Traffica is integral for managing customer experience, an area increasingly important for service providers,” said Thomas Hasselman, head of service management sales, Nokia Siemens Networks, in a statement. “The service usage analysis can help Telenor Pakistan to understand user trends and therefore maximize revenue.”
