Cisco Releases New Version of WebEx PCNow

Cisco (News - Alert) has announced the new version of WebEx PCNow, equipped with 5GB of online storage to help users automatically back up PC and Mac content while providing cloud-based file storage and access.

WebEx PCNow is an on-demand, remote-access service for both desktop and wireless devices. Earlier this year, WebEx PCNow extended its support to include the Apple (News - Alert) Mac.

The cross-platform support enable PCNow users to make any connection — PC-to-PC, PC-to-Mac, Mac-to-PC and Mac-to-Mac — providing telecommuting and access to files and programs on either platform.

WebEx PCNow allows customers to connect and to keep their data protected all the time — even when their computers are turned off, or disconnected from the Internet.

The new version of WebEx PCNow has an improved user interface. It features “more informative displays and a cleaner look, making it easier to navigate,” according to company officials. In addition, it offers integrated access to stored files through a single user interface.

The updated version also brings the power of the cloud directly to users. This provides users new controls and capabilities, said officials. Files are always available, and also files are optimized to “travel quickly” and “look great” on any Web-enabled device.

Moreover, with remote agent installation, WebEx PCNow's power as an ad hoc support tool has been augmented. Official said that customers can now invite someone else to set up their computer for remote access on the customer's account.

Using WebEx PCNow, users can access remote computer, including their desktop, applications, files and network access as though they are sitting in front of it. This service allows users to skip the office and work from anywhere and at anytime.

“WebEx PCNow is very comfortable and easy to use. It's very convenient to not just get access to your files and records, but to see the exact computer screen that I see when I am working from the office. It definitely contributes to my work-life balance,” said Lori Anne Carr, vice president at Titan Farms, in a statement.

Titan Farms relies on WebEx PCNow to manage farm’s operations. This year in March, HomeTrust Mortgage selected WebEx PCNow to simplify how its employees access what they need from their computers.
