Under the agreement, Birdstep has added µC/OS-II support for Raima Database Manager products. Birdstep Technology provides high-performance embedded database solutions.
µC/OS –II, the Real-Time Kernel, is a portable, ROMable, scalable, preemptive real-time, multi-tasking kernel for microprocessors and microcontrollers. It can manage up to 255 tasks and runs on a large number of processor architectures. The Validation Suite developed for µC/OS –II provides documentation required to deliver the same as a pre-certifiable software component for safety critical systems.
Jean Labrosse, president of Micriµm, said, “We are seeing greater interest in building database functionality into embedded systems. Being able to offer our customers an efficient and reliable embedded database solution is a key customer advantage, and has already achieved customer adoption. We look forward to further expanding our footprint with Birdstep Technology through the RDM Embedded offering on µC/OS-II.”
Micriµm develops embedded software components.
RDM Embedded is a high performance, small footprint embeddable data management solution that is designed for interconnected application specific systems. It enables information to be securely managed and interoperate with other systems. The combined offering of a RDM embedded and µC/OS –II RTOS is ideal for those customers who are either looking to move an application from their existing home-grown operating system or running a home grown data management on the µC/OS-II RTO. Comprehensive data management solutions had high-quality RTOS components are required when customers need to market their products faster and also when quality and performance of products need to be increased.
According to Duncan Bates, vice president of product management at Birdstep Technologies, “RDM Embedded has a track record like no other embedded database with 25 years of embedded application deployments across a multitude of industry verticals. We’re delighted to complement Micriµm’s vision of providing the highest-quality embedded software components to the industry by making our proven technology available on the µC/OS-II RTOS.”
Birdstep focuses on solving data management problems in verticals like Mil/Aero, Telecom, Financial, Consumer Electronics, Medical, Industrial Automation and Business Automation.
