Rave Computers has introduced the new Rave/Sun Ultra 24 Hybrid server. The company says that the server was developed for customers requiring a workstation in a rackmount form factor.
Rave Computer Association is a supplier, integrator, and developer of servers, workstations, and mobile computers to the U.S. military, prime contractors, independent software vendors, and original equipment manufacturers.
"Based on customer feedback, Rave developed the Hybrid Ultra 24 to support Sun customers who required full height/length PCI cards in a rackmount format," said Doris Block-Tomlinson, vice president of Business Development. "We modified the Sun Ultra 24 and developed a lightweight, high capacity rackmount workstation with features that are not available in Sun's currently x86 product offerings."
The Rave/Sun server has all the functionality of the Sun Ultra 24. The system also has four accessible high-capacity hot-swappable drives with full RAID capabilities, and is 400 Hz capable.
The system comes with preinstalled Solaris 10 OS, Sun Studio, Sun Java Studio, Sun Java Studio Enterprise and NetBeans 5.5 development tools. The system also has the flexibility of possessing an upgrade path to next generation processor and graphics technologies. The company claims that with Intel (

Alert) Core2 Duo, Intel Core2, Quad or Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processors it is designed to give superior performance.
The company states that the server comes with the flexibility to deploy desktop solutions with existing IT infrastructure with the broadest range of OS support in the industry.
The highlights of the server are Hot Swap, High capacity drives; Supports remote power on / power off / and reboot using Intel ASF functionality; Light weight - Aluminum Chassis; Single or Dual power supply and Ultra-Quiet hybrid server.
The server is also said to be environmentally friendly with a high efficiency single or redundant power supply. The front removable filters are designed to be easily cleaned that in turn reduces environmental containments.
The new Sun/Rave Ultra 24 is backed by Rave Computer's customer support and warranty program. Rave Computers also claims that it offers hardware and software maintenance on all products purchased through the company.
