Blackbaud Selects SocketLabs' Hurricane Server to Enhance E-mail Delivery Services

Blackbaud (BLKB) has selected Hurricane Server from SocketLabs to deliver its growing volume of outbound e-mail. Blackbaud, a provider of software and services for nonprofits, offers both email marketing campaign services and transactional email delivery for thousands of organizations through its website management solution, Blackbaud NetCommunity. SocketLabs, is a provider of on-premise high volume marketing and transactional email delivery solutions for the Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows platform.
 
Blackbaud's rapid growth in partnering with nonprofits for their online communications and the increased delivery requirements imposed by the large ISPs led to the company's decision to further invest in its email technology. They initially considered outsourcing email delivery to an ESP but in the end decided to keep it in-house.
 
"We did consider using an ESP solution, but we decided to keep it in-house because we already have the expertise to manage our email in house," said Chris Harris, e-mail specialist at Blackbaud. "Hurricane complements our existing infrastructure, and will support our growing volume and demand."
 
Blackbaud has selected Hurricane Server from Socketlabs after comparing the leading Mail Transfer Agents on the market. "Hurricane Server has significantly improved our email delivery performance," added Harris. "In addition, the advanced reporting and logging features in Hurricane Server have reduced the time required to investigate deliverability issues by at least 50 percent."
 
John Alessi, CEO of SocketLabs has said that they have successfully kept Blackbaud on the Windows platform and help them address their deliverability and scalability needs. "And by taking advantage of Hurricane Server's .Net API they are able to deliver email, control the server and get reports right from within their own applications. It is very clean and seamless," explained Alessi.
