Tangotec Unveils Fully Compliant ITU-T G.hn Chipset Family

Israel-based Tangotec Ltd., a systems and fabless semiconductor company, announced that it will offer a fully compliant ITU-T G.hn chipset family in 2012.

Tangotec’s G.hn compliant MAC/PHY and AFE chipset enables complete unification of the home wireline network for distributing bandwidth intensive and real-time applications.

In a release Ran Dror, Tangotec’s chief executive officer said, “Without a doubt, Tangotec's ITU-T G.hn edge-technology chipset address the home networking challenge with superior cost-performance.”

It was revealed that Tangotec’s ITU-T G.hn chipset provides up to 1 Gbit/s over a variety of wires, including powerline, coax and telephone. Tangotec will be demonstrating G.hn over all three media at CES (News - Alert) 2012.

Officials said that G.hn is the ITU-T definition of the next generation home network standard for distribution of Internet Protocol (IP) content across existing AC power lines, coax cables and phone lines.

Also G.hn helps consumers to access, store and share content around the home without installing new wiring. This includes broadband data, 3D/HD Internet Protocol television (IPTV (News - Alert)) programs, video-on-demand (VoD), multi-room 3D/HD DVR recordings, Voice over IP (VoIP), streaming of 3D video, HD video, music, photos and many others.

Officials explained that Tangotec’s G.hn solution is more reliable compared to presently available wired or wireless solutions as it eliminates the need for complicated security and setups. Its optimized performance enables service providers to easily and affordably deliver any IP service that they require.

Tangotec’s G.hn chipset highlights global standards-based technology such as the ITU-T G.hn standard G.9960/1/3/4. Besides it supports legacy powerline device on ITU-T G.9972; PHY rate up to 1 Gbit/s and plug and play solutions like auto configuration and self-install capabilities over all three media, including powerline, coax and phoneline.

It also features embedded next generation MIMO technology over powerline, and can hence extend coverage, improve the network’s immunity to noise and deliver higher throughput. Besides it also supports both G.hn Domain Master and G.hn endpoint applications and supports bridging, smart repeating, IP-Multicast besides other optimized features.
