China's Leading Software Brand Kingsoft Releases New Products

China’s leading Internet-based developer, distributor and service provider of entertainment software, Internet security and application software, Kingsoft Corporation Limited has officially launched four new products.  The new line of products includes WPS Office 2012, Secured Cloud Storage, Kaipun and Office Mobile Edition.

Kingsoft’s secure cloud storage system has been developed as an important strategic product for Kingsoft Office Software and is targeted at the cloud computing market. The product involves three years of rigorous R&D and testing efforts, the company revealed in a press release. Incorporating four major features including centralized storage, real-time synchronization, security control and office collaboration, the product strives to resolve the information management problems faced by the modern enterprises by offering privately-owned cloud for enterprises.

In order to bring better experiences and values to users, the company added three additional components to its WPS Office 2012 office software package. The new features include email, PDF and input methods. In addition to the existing features like word processing, spreadsheet and presentation functions, the new features are expected to offer its users better experience and more value.

The demand for Kingsoft office software is highest among the government sector purchasers. According to the company, since the issue arose in regards to the legitimate software uses in government organizations at the State Council Executive Meeting last October, government purchase of WPS has accounted for 56 percent of the overall WPS sales as of May this year. This demonstrated a straight 200 percent sales growth when compared to that of last year.

In the enterprise market, WPS received purchase order from largest state-owned enterprises such as China Huadian Corporation and China Metallurgical Group Corporation, as well as large financial institutions such as CITIC Bank.

Since the commercial launch of its first office applications software, WPS 1.0, in 1989 followed by a number of upgrading and enhancements, Kingsoft has become well the most well-recognized software brand in China.

“The consolidation of WPS, Kingsoft Secured Cloud Storage, Kingsoft Kuaipun, and Kingsoft Office Mobile Edition will provide users with cross-platform, cross-terminal, integrated business services anytime, anywhere. The launch of the four products marks a significant step upon the successful completion of Kingsoft's strategic transformation and sets the benchmark for the on-going development of Kingsoft office software as well as the future transformation of the entire infrastructure software industry. After the launch, Kingsoft office software has basically completed the integration of its product lines, expanding the coverage of user base from high-end large enterprise customers to the small and medium enterprise customers. We foresee an optimistic market prospect,” CEO of Kingsoft Office Software Ge Ke commented in a statement.

Earlier this year, Kingsoft announced that its affiliate Shell Network and Tencent's Shenzhen subsidiary have inked a supplemental agreement on strategic investment.
