Laipac's S-911 Vest with GPS Wins ASIS Accolades Competition

Laipac's S-911 bullet-proof vest was named recently as a “top ten” recipient in the 2011 ASIS Accolades competition.

The S-911 vest features GPS live tracking. It also has a “body armor impact system” ideal for police uses, according to a press release from Laipac. The vest offers automatic GPS tracking position, time and impact information, the company said.

According to the company’s website, the vest also features: real-time reporting based on time interval or distance travelled; G-Sensor to report a shot and its impact; ability to evaluate mission performance; and G-Sensor to report an accident or person down.

S-911 vest is designed for military, police, law enforcement agencies, security personnel and VIPs that require protection. It is made of DuPont Kevlar, which is flexible and lightweight with IIIA ballistic protection. Add-on armor plates of NIJ III and IV are available.

“Using this technology, a police department will be able to track the location of officers as well as dispatch further backup or medical teams when the gunshot sensor is triggered,” according to Digital Trends. “This also allows high-ranking officials to watch tactical operations through GPS tracking when needed as well as evaluate the success or failure of an operation after completion.”

ASIS Accolades is a competition for the security sector – recognizing new products, services, or solutions. More than 70 entries were reviewed before the judges named the top 10 winners.

The S-911 vest was recently displayed at the ASIS International 2011 show held in the Orange (News - Alert) County Convention Center.

Last year, Laipac’s GPS tracking watch, the Laipac S911 bracelet locator, was named one of the top ten "Security's Best" in the 2010 ASIS Accolades competition, according to TMCnet. The S911 bracelet locator provides public safety and commercial security organizations with a real-time tracking wrist watch, with GPS technology and cell phone, TMCnet adds.
