Nuxeo and Ephesoft Teamed up to Deliver Cloud-Ready Solution for Managing Full Document Lifecycle

Nuxeo, the provider of an extensible and modular Open Source (News - Alert) Content Management Platform recently forged an alliance with Ephesoft, a provider of an intelligent document capture system. The alliance is aimed at providing a complete solution for managing the full document lifecycle---from the capture phase to publish and through the archive stage. The alliance reflects a commitment to open standards.  

With Ephesoft and Nuxeo platforms both being cloud-ready, the end-to-end solution can be deployed on the cloud quickly and easily.

“Content management architects frequently have a requirement for automating the flow of content from the data capture phase to the ECM application. Now we can offer a standards-based solution that is quick to deploy and easy to integrate,” Ephesoft CEO Don Field explained in a statement.

Under the alliance, a new connector has been formed between the Ephesoft document capture platform and the Nuxeo content management platform. This connector is based on the OASIS CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services) standard, the companies which are going to host a webinar to demonstrate the connector on September 14^th, as explained in a press release.

The CMIS standard based connector allows for automated content flow from Ephesoft to the Nuxeo platform. Here is how the end to end solution supports the content management life cycle.

A document is first captured by Ephesoft, which is capable of capturing documents from virtually any possible source including scanner, multifunction peripheral, email, existing images or a fax server.

In the next step, it automates document separation and data extraction based on the document classification.

The CMIS-based connector between Ephesoft and the Nuxeo Enterprise Platform allows the passage of the document to a full-featured document management repository. Then the document can be incorporated directly into content-centric business processes, with automated workflow, versioning, search/retrieval, and publishing capabilities.

The content captured from Ephesoft could also be fed into Nuxeo Case Management Framework, for a fully customizable capture-to-case processing solution, the companies explained.

Since the solutions are based on two open standard platforms, it is flexible enough to integrate easily into an existing IT infrastructure. Powered by platform-based Nuxeo technology, the end-to-end solution is fully adapted to document management, case management, or other specialized content management scenario, the allying companies claimed.

“Enterprise-grade content management solutions should be scalable and sustainable to mitigate long-term, unforeseen deployment and maintenance costs to the organization.

Because the Nuxeo-Ephesoft integration is based on the CMIS standard and fully cloud-ready, it is flexible, and can grow seamlessly with evolving project requirements,” Nuxeo CEO Eric Barroca explained in a statement.

The companies are currently offering Nuxeo - Ephesoft integration as a service offering.

A couple of month back, Nuxeo, announced the availability of Nuxeo Document Management in the Ubuntu (News - Alert) software partner catalog, ensuring ease of installation and deployment for developers building content management applications designed to run on the Ubuntu server environment. This new packaging and partnership with Canonical will ease installation, upgrades and the customization experience for the growing developer community selecting Ubuntu, the company clarified din an earlier press release.
