NTT America Offers New Private Cloud Services; Wins VMware Status

NTT America (News - Alert), a global infrastructure services provider, announced that it achieved VMware vCloud Powered status for the NTT Communications private cloud service offering.

The new status enables NTT America (News - Alert) to extend its suite of private cloud services beyond its data centers to support hybrid cloud needs.

“The VMware vCloud Powered program was developed to enable our service provider partners to differentiate themselves,” said Don Schleicher, vice president of service providers at VMware, in a statement. “We look forward to supporting NTT Communications (News - Alert) (News - Alert) further as it delivers on the agility and performance customers are looking for in the cloud computing landscape.”

NTT America also announced the availability of new Global Enterprise Portal. The new portal is expected to simplify the administration of cloud computing services, while increasing the level of security required in the cloud.

NTT Communications now offers a single site for enterprise IT administrators to access their NTT Communications services including cloud computing, managed storage and security, network, colocation, and managed hosting.

“Since the launch of the NTT Communications Private Cloud, we have continued to add critical services that our customers are demanding as they develop a mix of private cloud services leveraging resources from behind their corporate firewalls and in our data centers,” added Doug McMaster, NTT America’s vice president of data center services.

“Achieving VMware vCloud Powered status for our private cloud service offering shows our commitment to meeting complex customer needs,” McMaster added.

The new status also ensures that the company’s cloud services are underpinned by VMware’s virtualization and cloud computing technology such as VMware vSphere and VMware vCloud Director.

Recently, NTT America announced the integration of VMware's vCloud Director virtualization software into NTT Communications' enterprise cloud hosting offerings. The integration enables organizations of all sizes to capitalize on the advantages of utility-based cloud computing.
