GlobalLogic, Inc., an international provider of research and development services for technology companies, sat down with TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) to discuss some of the latest trends in software development. Michael DeVries, SVP and CMO of GlobalLogic, said that the company's goal is to help technology companies accelerate their software roadmaps to market.
DeVries said GlobalLogic started off serving small software ISPs and has now grown to serve seven of the 10 leading global technology brands. The company's customers are in the enterprise sector, telecommunications, digital and social media and healthcare, with a specific focus on embedded devices and technologies.
The company recently held its Innovate! 2011 event, and surveyed their audience about the latest technology trends. “There's a tremendous explosion happening around mobile, social and the cloud,” said DeVries. “The intersection of those key things, particularly cloud computing and smart devices, is the biggest change our customers are seeing in their software development roadmaps over the next 18 months.”
DeVries said bringing consumer technology into the enterprise is an enormous challenge, and overall companies are dealing with more change than he's seen in his 30 years in the research and development field. The economic model has changed as well, going from million-dollar enterprise software deals to a pay-by-the-month model or software embedded in devices with price points already set.
GlobalLogic's relentless focus on innovation has always been the company's key differentiator. “It's our ability to connect people together, help them collaborate to drive innovative products to market, and then really foster a culture of innovation across their innovation hubs that lets us bring great technology to market for our customers,” said DeVries.
The company recently acquired Rofous Software, a product and content engineering company. The deal has expanded GlobalLogic's footprint in India and will also help them add content engineering to their portfolio of software R&D service offerings.
