Juniper Networks Debuts Firefly Suite

In order to enhance the security features of both public and private clouds, Juniper Networks (News - Alert) unveiled the Firefly suite of virtualized security solutions that can deliver granular and secure connectivity over the cloud environments.

The suite includes Firefly Perimeter as well the Junos Space Virtual Director and the company has also introduced enhancements to its Firefly Host used for hypervisor-based protection.

Virtualization and cloud-computing technologies usually are in need of security solutions that are capable of protecting virtual assets without compromising on performance, availability and management control. The new Firefly Perimeter can cater to these demands as it is a virtual firewall built on the SRX Services Gateway (News - Alert) code delivered in a virtual machine (VM) form factor and is capable of operating deep within the virtualized fabric, offering layers of defense as well as rich connectivity features.

While the Junos Space Virtual Director is a full life cycle management application designed for Firefly Perimeter using which one can automate provisioning and resource allocation of the virtual machines built with Firefly Perimeter. The new solution can run on the Junos Space network management platform and has support for the design, deployment, monitoring, grouping, and reporting, of firewall VM instances.

Juniper added that the Firefly Security Suite is a collection of software products designed and licensed to meet the unique needs of protecting cloud deployments, designed for scale and flexibility and will be available to users over both perpetual and subscription licenses.
