Dell Incorporates Wilocity WiGig in Latest Ultrabooks and Workstations

Wilocity recently announced that it has entered into a strategic collaboration with Dell (News - Alert). The latest, first-class Dell Ultrabooks and high-performance Dell mobile workstations have been incorporated with Wilocity chipsets. For the first time, tri-band Wi-Fi products were unveiled by Dell earlier this year in the form of Dell 6430u Ultrabook and D5000 Wireless Dock.

In a statement, Mark Grodzinsky, vice president of marketing at Wilocity said, "We're proud to be working with Dell to lead the next wave of tri-band Wi-Fi products. These high-speed products are the first step toward a world in which all intelligent devices are connected through a Wi-Fi network. As more products reach consumers thanks to partners like Dell, we're seeing wireless docking gain traction across the workplace, in large and small businesses alike."

The IEEE approved WiGig standard from Wilocity has been integrated into the Wi-Fi Alliance (News - Alert) portfolio. The WiGig standard ushers in a new generation in wireless by offering a minimum of 10 times faster speeds as compared to the normal Wi-Fi. Wires are nearly extinct with Wilocity WiGig, which offers the capability to wirelessly transfer the files virtually in real-time and also send high quality video streams.

Dell had unveiled the next generation Latitude E7240 and E7440 Ultrabook in August. Dell’s Precision M4800 and M6800 Workstations are also now ready for shipping. All these Dell products have been fitted with the tri-band Wi-Fi chipset from Wilocity. This chipset incorporates the multi-gigabit performance of the 60 GHz band with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band "whole home" Wi-Fi. Customers can now leverage the Dell D5000 Wireless Dock for linking up their laptop or workstation to compatible mouse, monitor, keyboard and conference-room equipment peripherals wirelessly, resulting in a wire-free desktop.

Kirk Schell, vice president of the commercial PC product group at Dell said, "Dell is committed to innovation and redefining the end-user experience for both businesses and consumers. WiGig, powered by Wilocity, is today's fastest wireless and on the cutting-edge of connected computing. Earlier this year Dell introduced the world's first WiGig dock and recently announced the addition of the WiGig-capable Latitude 7000 and 5000 Series to the world's most secure and manageable line of commercial PCs with outstanding reliability."
