Hitachi Data Systems Helps US Federal Government Improve IT Efficiency

Today’s world is filled with challenges of managing the burgeoning streams of information generated and available to organizations, particularly big data.

In order to serve the IT needs of the U.S. federal government, Hitachi (News - Alert) Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., has established a new subsidiary company. The company is committed to reducing the complexity and increasing the efficiency of U.S. government’s data center initiatives.  

The company will help the government decrease spending, IT operations spending, IT security posture, shift IT investments and promote the use of green IT.

U.S. government agencies will able be able to use Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP), the dominant enterprise platform for virtualized environments.

HDS Federal Corporation will enable U.S. government agencies to adopt cloud-based IT delivery models in a secure, scalable and flexible manner. This platform helps customers reclaim storage capacity and better utilize their existing assets to meet their current and future data requirements.

Michael Tanner, a former vice president at Hitachi Data Systems (News - Alert), who will now be president and CEO of Hitachi Data Systems Federal Corporation, said in a statement, “The U.S. federal government continues to be one of the largest purchasers of IT hardware, solutions and services.
