Cbeyond Rolls Out Cloud Management Portal for SMBs

Cloud communications provider Cbeyond (News - Alert) has rolled out an online portal to make it easier for its customers to customize, manage and control their cloud computing services.

Cbeyond Online, designed to ultimately provide resource and time savings, offers on-demand, self-service functionality that allows customers to use the cloud to meet their individual business needs, as well as serve their own customers more efficiently, according to Chris Ortbals, senior vice president of product management at Cbeyond.

“Business owners want to view their asset utilization quickly, and make easy but necessary account changes that impact their services and bills,” Ortbals said in a statement. “Cbeyond continues to design and upgrade our platform with SMBs in mind – delivering solutions to help them transition to the cloud and, at the same time, optimize their cloud usage once they have migrated to the cloud.”

Using the portal, Cbeyond customers can view computing, storage and network utilization and performance reports, add real-time compute, storage and network capacity, and make changes to their cloud resources such as provision or resize their virtual machines.

Customers can also manage their phone system features, such as setting time-based conditional call routing, viewing call detail records, and assigning phone numbers to handsets.

Account administrators can also manage their Cbeyond accounts by accessing Cbeyond Online via Cbeyond mobile apps, available for download onto popular Android and Apple iOS (iPhone (News - Alert), iPad and iPod Touch) devices via Google play and iTunes, respectively.

The Cbeyond Online portal also supports Cbeyond’s cloud service platform, including TotalCloud Data Center and TotalCloud Phone (News - Alert) System, both of which launched late last year.

Cebeyond recently met with TMCnet to discuss why trust matters when it comes to migrating data to the cloud, whether that data is personal or sensitive corporate information.

“When you’re engaging with customers and talking with them about something as sensitive as their data, and moving it away from a physicality into a virtual environment, that can be very frightening,” Zane Long, VP of Indirect Channel Sales for Cbeyond, told TMCnet during ITEXPO (News - Alert) Miami this past January.

The first step for a hosting provider such as Cbeyond is, of course, to have a rock-solid security system in place.
