USRobotics Launches 56K USB Soft Modem

USRobotics, a Platinum Equity company and a modem manufacturer, recently launched a 56K USB Soft Modem (USR5639) that features plug-and-play installation, making it ideal for most confined spaces.

Broadly compatible with Windows including 64 bit and server systems, the modem uses the CPU of the host computer for high compression throughput due to direct parallel access. Features include ring detection and qualification, eliminating unintended wake-on-ring events via activity on the phone line other than ringing, as well as handling pulse dial control to eliminate system timing dependencies common with soft modems.

The USRobotics USB Softmodem is fully compatible with V.92 and lower rates, catering to compact POS solutions that only require V.34.

Bruce Swail, CEO at USRobotics, said, “Ultimately, the goal of this new USB Softmodem is to deliver a cost effective and reliable solution for our customers in a more practical size. The Softmodem is bus-powered; there’s no need for an outside power source, making it easy to be incorporated into a wide range of data transfer solutions throughout North America and Europe.”

The modem is capable of receiving at up to 56 Kbps and sending at up to 48 Kbps (or 31.2 Kbps with V.90 server). USRobotics modems featuring V.92 enhancements are backward compatible and will negotiate the highest possible speed when connecting to an ISP.

Last year, USRobotics expanded its popular tablet accessories line with the introduction of an iPad 2 folio case/stand.

The USRobotics 360-degree Rotating Folio Case/Stand for the iPad 2 (Model 5220) is designed specifically for the iPad owner's needs. The easy-to-grip outer shell securely encases the iPad2, while the soft interior lining safeguards the screen from scratches and dings during transport or storage.

The USR5220's 360-degree rotation feature allows individuals to easily transition from portrait to landscape viewing while simultaneously personalizing their viewing angle.

Whether typing with a wireless keyboard, viewing movies or presenting a slideshow, performance will not be limited by inflexible positions.
