Emerson Network Power Unveils Software Applications in Trellis

Emerson (News - Alert) Network Power recently introduced four software applications in the Trellis platform. Data centers can now enhance their operational efficiency by nearly 70 percent and energy efficiency by nearly 25 percent with the real-time infrastructure optimization offered by Trellis software applications.

These applications were previously available on the Avocent (News - Alert) Universal Management Gateway.

Data center managers are now offered a single solution with all the required management capabilities at a single location, avoiding duplicate processes and the necessity to connect disparate proprietary systems. Data center managers are offered immediate visibility into the performance of the complete data center, whose accessibility, effectiveness and capacity are also maximized via the platform.

The Trellis service has been tested by several clients of Emerson Network Power, including Infosys (News - Alert). “Infosys is committed to building environmentally sustainable solutions for our clients’ enterprises. With our deep experience in sustainability and data centers, we see the need for systems that excel in both energy efficiency and performance. The Emerson Network Power (News - Alert) Trellis platform is installed in our Bangalore data center as part of the Trellis Early Adopters Program. It shows great promise in being able to continuously monitor critical systems and predict potential issues in a cost- and energy-efficient manner.”

The Trellis software applications currently include Trellis Inventory Manager, Trellis Site Manager, Trellis Change Planner and Trellis Energy Insight. While Trellis Inventory Manager offers data center management, Trellis Site Manager provides information regarding the physical condition of the infrastructure.

Trellis Change Planner, in association with Trellis Inventory Manager, ensures the use of precise and reliable information at the data center. The facility’s energy usage and electrical expenses are calculated by Trellis Energy Insight.

“The Trellis platform ends compartmental decision-making so data center professionals can optimize every aspect of their critical infrastructure operations,” said Steve Hassell, President of Avocent Business at Emerson Network Power. “The result is a new level of data center performance that makes it possible to achieve the high availability, operational efficiency and the agility to meet business demands.”
