By Ashok BindraTo enable Android (News - Alert) applications to run on Widows powered PCs, startup BlueStacks is working closely with Citrix to provide a connection to the AppStore via Citrix Receiver. This comprehensive solution for enterprises developing Android applications was presented at Citrix Synergy (News - Alert) 2011.
BlueStacks revealed on Wednesday that the company is working with Citrix. In fact, the BlueStacks, Citrix partnership was disclosed by Citrix CEO Mark Templeton, in his keynote talk at Citrix Synergy.
According to BlueStacks, it will allow users to seamlessly run Android applications on their x86-based Windows machines, while giving PC manufacturers the chance to align with the growing consumer demand for Android-based mobile enterprise applications. Combined with BlueStacks, Citrix Receiver serves as the connection for users to access the AppStore for the enterprise, stated BlueStacks.
BlueStacks said that the proliferation of devices entering the workplace creates new requirements for the enterprise. Employees want fast, simple and on-demand access to corporate resources from any device that they choose—whether it be a PC, Mac, laptop, netbook, tablet or smartphone. IT, however, needs a secure and scalable infrastructure that can manage the variety of user devices, added BlueStacks.
The start-up plans to address this need by enabling Android applications to be run on x86-based tablets, netbooks, notebooks or all-in-one (AIO) computers, with a Windows operating system. Citrix Receiver for Windows and Mac provides a universal software client that runs on laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones turning any device into a powerful business tool to access virtual desktops and Windows, web and SaaS (News

In a statement, Sumit Dhawan, VP and general manager of Citrix Receiver and end- user experience at Citrix said, “Citrix Receiver allows end users to have a choice of device and access to any enterprise application." He added, ”With BlueStacks enterprises can deliver any Android application to any device, enabling IT to embrace consumerization and make their employees more productive."
In addition, Rosen Sharma, founder and CEO of BlueStacks stated, “BlueStacks is aimed at addressing a market need that is only going to grow as the adoption of Android devices increases.” Citrix is a trusted enterprise provider with technological prowess and market traction, and Citrix Receiver is the perfect option that will enable BlueStacks to deliver a comprehensive mobile solution to PC manufacturers, enterprises and users alike,” noted Sharma.
