VSS Monitoring and Sourcefire Team Up to Combat Targeted Cyber-Security Attacks

In a bid to ensure maximum security for their customers, VSS Monitoring (News - Alert), Inc. and Sourcefire, Inc. have become partners. In a press release, the companies claimed that the combined technologies of the two companies will deliver a never-before seen level of network security availability, redundancy, and flexibility.

San Mateo, Calif. based VSS Monitoring, Inc. is the leader in network traffic capture, with the world's largest and most feature-rich family of traffic capture devices allowing IT professionals to provide a new architecture of network monitoring.

Sourcefire, Inc. is a globally renowned provider of intelligent cybersecurity solutions. With its IPS, Real-time Network Awareness and Real-time Adaptive Security solutions, the company has been helping the Global 2000 organizations and government agencies manage and minimize network security risks. The Sourcefire solutions provide an efficient and effective layered security defense -- protecting network assets before, during and after an attack.

Under the agreement, VSS Monitoring will join Sourcefire Technology Partner Program (STP). Through the partnership, customers using the Sourcefire IPS with VSS Monitoring's intelligent traffic capture and redirection tools can maximize protection and their security investment.

In the release, VSS explained that its Passive Distributed Traffic Capture Systems and unique family of Active Inline Bypass Systems called Protector Series will enable users to easily and rapidly deploy, scale and optimize their Sourcefire 3D solutions. With VSS, users will be able to connect multiple Sourcefire 3D Sensors to each intelligent traffic capture device incrementally or immediately, in passive or inline configurations, to support multiple networks, network segments, and policies.

Earlier this month, VSS Monitoring and WildPackets (News - Alert), Inc. announced a strategic and technical partnership to provide a joint integration solution for real-time, packet-level visibility into network traffic.
