Optimum Lightpath Awarded New York State Public Service Commission Commendation

Optimum Lightpath (News - Alert), a company in Ethernet-based communication solutions for New York metropolitan area businesses, has been awarded New York State Public Service Commission Commendation for Excellent Service for the 13th consecutive year. The commission commendation recognizes telecommunications providers that consistently provide the higher levels of service and quality to customers in New York State.

Optimum Lightpath invests continually in its 100 percent fiber network and ability to deliver on the distinct needs of the many different types of customers it serves. Today, the company's network spans more than 4,400 route miles. It connects more than 4,500 fiber-lit buildings, putting companies throughout the N.Y. metro area in position to take control of their telecommunications services, cut costs and do more.

Optimum Lightpath has increasingly set up broad and innovative service lineup that aligns with what its customers need. It provides the value-based Internet Voice Bundle for the mid-market, its Education Services Suite for schools, low latency and 40 gigabit OTS for financial firms, and Interactive Patient Care for hospitals.

The commission commends the providers based on their performance in relation to service quality standards it has established. The criteria used to grant a commendation for excellent service includes an evaluation of customer trouble report rates. They are based on the low number of consumer complaints received by the commission.

The commission has reviewed and commended Optimum Lightpath every year. Customers come from various sectors in Optimum Lightpath's smart community, including education, government, finance, healthcare, and media and entertainment. They take advantage of high-speed metro Ethernet services backed by customer service that helps to transform the way they work every day.

Optimum Lightpath, a division of Cablevision Systems (News - Alert) Corporation, provides advanced Ethernet-based data, Internet, voice, video transport solutions and managed services to businesses across the New York metropolitan area. Optimum Lightpath fiber-to-the-business-premises network extends more than 4,400 route miles connecting more than 4,500 fiber-lit locations. The New York State Public Service Commission has given Optimum Lightpath its Commendation of Excellence for 12 years. Optimum Lightpath has received many industry awards for innovation and leadership.

In related news, Optimum Lightpath has reportedly signed a partnership agreement with Tellabs (News - Alert), a provider of mobile, optical and business solutions, to develop a next-generation optical network to deliver flexible, high-bandwidth services to businesses in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. With this partnership, Optimum Lightpath said it offers a variety of features from aggregated Ethernet services to optical wavelength services. It can also add integrated time division multiplexing and packet-switching features; turn up new service and new locations rapidly; improve resiliency, reliability and survivability; and enable new revenue streams.
